National Stuttering Association

Purple and turquoise starburst with the letters NSA in the middle.

Stuttering specialists are speech-language pathologists who have been recognized by the American Board of Fluency and Fluency Disorders (ABFFD) as having achieved advanced training and clinical skill for working with people who stutter and their families.

A list of Board-Certified Specialists in Fluency Disorders (BCS-F) can be found at www.stutteringspecialists.org.

If there is no Board-Certified Specialist in your area, you might contact a Specialist nearby who may know colleagues in your area who treat stuttering or are in the process of preparing for certification. In addition, NSA maintains a list of clinicians who have demonstrated their commitment to helping children who stutter, either by participating in the NSA’s continuing education program or by attending an NSA Annual Conference. To find a clinician in your area, contact the NSA national office at (800) We Stutter.

Note: The National Stuttering Association (NSA) does not evaluate the competence of speech-language pathologists nor guarantee their treatment. You are encouraged to contact the providers directly to find out further details about their experience and expertise in providing diagnosis and treatment services for children and adults who stutter.
