About the event

Speech-language pathologists are invited to attend the Oklahoma City Stuttering Professional Seminar for SLPs, an afternoon of professional learning focused on counseling practices in stuttering intervention.

Led by Michael Azios, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, this seminar will explore the importance of counseling within the stuttering community and introduce practical strategies that support children who stutter and their families. Participants will learn how to incorporate counseling techniques—including bibliotherapy and cinema therapy—into their clinical practice while developing skills in active and reflective listening (while earning 0.4 ASHA CEUs!).

This interactive session will challenge attendees to think beyond fluency-focused approaches and consider the importance of stuttering-affirming practices that support the emotional and psychosocial experiences of people who stutter.

Participants will also engage in hands-on learning activities and breakout sessions designed to help clinicians apply counseling responses in real-world scenarios.

This seminar is FREE for sponsoring district employees and OAKS members, and $15 for all other attendees.
