Meet Anabel Augustin, a valued member of the National Stuttering Association team. Learn more about their role and contributions. Anabel Augustin WS@W Committee Co-Chair Anabel Augustin is a Broward County resident and a person who stutters. Anabel was introduced to the NSA through her speech pathologist at Nova clinic and attended her first meeting in 2018. From the NSA Miami chapter meeting, Anabel was introduced to an amazing support system and was able to express herself for the first time in years without being rushed or feeling ashamed for taking time to talk. By joining the NSA miami chapter meeting, Anabel was able to participate in several research studies, present at panels in order to spread awareness about stuttering. Anabel is a youth case manager and uses her position to continue to spread awareness about stuttering, advocating for individuals with disabilities and educating individuals on ways to appropriately communicate with a person who stutters. Anabel serves on the We Stutter @ Work Committee helping people feel confident and accepted in the workplace, and she is the Co-chapter leader of the NSA miami chapter meeting

< Back Previous Kelly Kaczmarski Presenter Kelly Kaczmarski is a mom to 2 boys, Connor and Evan (Evan is 17 and stutters). Kelly is married to her husband, Dan, and lives in Keller, Texas. She has been in education for 24 years and is currently a teacher to blind and visually impaired students. Kelly enjoys reading, DIY decorating, and spending family time at the lake. < Back Previous Vivian Sisskin Presenter Vivian Sisskin is a Clinical Professor Emerita at the University of Maryland, an ASHA Fellow, and Board-Certified Specialist in Stuttering, Cluttering, and Fluency Disorders. She received ASHA’s Media Champion Award for her work promoting public awareness of stuttering and the Stuttering Association of the Young (SAY) Budd Mayer Advocacy Award. She was named Speech-Language Pathologist of the Year by the National Stuttering Association. Sisskin is the creator of Avoidance Reduction Therapy for Stuttering (ARTS®), which supports goals of acceptance and change. She directs the Sisskin Stuttering Center and presents her work both nationally and internationally. Next

Scott Yaruss Presenter J Scott Yaruss, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-SCF, F-ASHA, is a professor of communicative sciences and disorders at Michigan State University, and PI for an NIH-funded project on stuttering variability. His research focuses on the experiences of people who stutter, with particular emphasis on ways that speech-language pathologists (SLPs) can help to diminish the adverse impact that is often associated with stuttering. He is a former member of the board of directors of the National Stuttering Association and recipient of the NSA’s SLP of the Year and Hall of Fame awards. Next

< Back Previous Megan Young Presenter Megan Young is a certified speech-language pathologist and assistant professor in the Department of Communication Disorders at New Mexico State University. She teaches courses in stuttering and is the director of the NMSU Stuttering Lab. Her research interests include psychosocial aspects of stuttering, career development, and stuttering advocacy. Megan is also a member of the National Stuttering Association’s Professional Relations Committee. In her spare time, she enjoys music, cooking, and spending time outdoors. Next
