Board of Directors Spotlight: Holly Nover – Leadership, Family, and Speaking Freely

Holly Nover

When Holly Nover joined the NSA in 2007, her goals were clear: She wanted to meet others who stutter, build confidence, and begin to fully accept her voice. What she found was a life-changing community—and an opportunity to lead it.

“The NSA helped me stop hiding my stutter. I now speak freely.”

Today, Holly serves on the NSA Board of Directors, helping guide the organization’s mission to empower and support people who stutter across the country. But her impact goes far beyond board meetings—she’s a leader in both her personal and professional life.

Holly is the proud mom of two boys—Colton, who also stutters, and Beckett—and wife to Phil. She shares that it’s harder having a child who stutters than being a person who stutters yourself, a perspective that drives her deep compassion and advocacy within the NSA Family Programs.

Professionally, Holly leads with heart as she supervises over 90 speech-language pathologists in the same district where she grew up. Her dual perspective as an SLP and a person who stutters adds powerful insight to every room she enters.

Her advice for new members:
“Connect with others. Join different groups during the Conference.”

Get to know Holly:

Favorite ice cream: Mint Chocolate Chip

Pet: Poppy, her energetic 2-year-old yellow lab

Fun fact: She’s a pro at cracking crab legs

Dream vacation: Bimini, Bahamas

For nearly two decades, Holly has helped shape the NSA into the supportive, welcoming, and empowering community it is today. Her leadership continues to inspire others to speak up, show up, and be proud of who they are.

Thank you, Holly!
