About the event

Many school-based speech-language pathologist express concerns about their ability to help school-age children who stutter. This free, three-day, intensive workshop is designed to help clinicians increase their comfort and competence with stuttering therapy, so that they can help children become confident communicators. ASHA CEUs 1.5

The presenters, including two board-certified specialists in stuttering, cluttering, and fluency (BCS-SCF), will provide advanced training about current assessment and therapy practices. Specific topics include; conducting comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, qualifying children for therapy, writing appropriate therapy goals, helping children learn to speak and communicate more easily, reducing negative emotional and cognitive reactions to stuttering, enhancing communication effectiveness, increasing participation in the classroom, and addressing advanced topics such as bullying and other challenges that children who stutter might experience. The goal is to dramatically improve outcomes for children who stutter by blending the most current research on stuttering with a real-world, practical approach to helping children who stutter.
