About the event

Grief is a natural response to loss, but loss does not always involve losing a person. Grief can also arise when life looks different from what we once imagined or hoped for. These feelings may affect not only an individual, but also their entire family.


Making space for grief can be an important part of healing, growth, and developing a more integrated sense of self. Our capacity to experience joy may also be connected to our willingness to acknowledge and process grief.


During this interactive session, participants will explore grief as a natural response to life transitions, adversity, and unmet expectations. Through discussion and reflection, we will consider how grief can influence identity, emotional well-being, relationships, and self-acceptance.


Jamie Oxendine will draw from her personal experience as the parent of a child who stutters and her professional expertise as a licensed mental health professional. Together, participants will consider how:
