About the event

Voice AI tools like Siri, Alexa, and automated phone systems often don’t recognize stuttered speech. That means people who stutter face barriers in everyday tasks and even in job interviews.

The HeardAI project is working to change that. A team from Michigan State University, Western Michigan University, and Friends: The National Association of Children Who Stutter is developing a new kind of speech recognition system trained to understand stuttering and create fair, equitable access for all voices.

Join us for this session to:

  • Hear the latest updates from HeardAI Co-Principal Investigator and past NSA board member, J. Scott Yaruss

  • Learn how the NSA has been partnering on this groundbreaking work

  • Explore the challenges people who stutter face with existing Voice AI
