About the event

Do you ever catch yourself apologizing because you stutter—sometimes deliberately, sometimes almost automatically? For many people who stutter (PWS), apologizing can become a habit tied to past experiences, social expectations, or the worry of being judged. It may feel like a way to smooth over the moment, lessen perceived awkwardness, or ease the listener’s discomfort.

But stuttering is nothing to be sorry for.

In this NSA Connects session, hosts Cora Campbell and McKenzie Jemmett will discuss why apologizing can feel so instinctive and how we can shift our thinking toward stuttering freely and unapologetically. We’ll explore the social and emotional layers behind the word “sorry” and share healthier ways of responding that support confidence and self-acceptance.
