About the event
Interactions with authority figures and law enforcement can be challenging for anyone, but for people who stutter, these situations can present additional hurdles. Recently, the NSA released a “Stuttering Disclosure Card” designed to assist in encounters where explanations might be difficult.
In this upcoming NSA Connects session, join us as we discuss both positive and difficult experiences, and explore strategies and tools that can help navigate these interactions more effectively. We will also hear from a Speech-Language Pathologist who will share her experiences working with clients in these situations and discuss how law enforcement may be trained to better handle communication differences.

Julie Marshall is a Clinical Associate Professor at The University of Memphis, School
of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD). For the past 25 years, she has
taught speech-language pathology graduate students in the areas of stuttering and
