About the event
When people think of speech therapy, they often think of traditional approaches (such as fluency shaping or stuttering modification). Many adults who stutter have lamented that therapy didn't work for them, or if it did, any desired results they had were very short-term.
In this NSA Connects session, Anabel Augustin, a person who stutters, and her speech-language pathologist, Margaret Miller, will guide a conversation about the importance of counseling in speech therapy. Counseling in speech therapy goes beyond techniques and exercises. It is about reclaiming your voice… because healing doesn’t begin when the stutter eases or disappears.
Join Anabel and Margaret as they discuss how therapy can be a safe space to explore the emotions and fears tied to stuttering, build confidence, and strengthen your relationship with your voice.
