About the event
A coach can shape confidence, character, and direction long after the final whistle. But for coaches who stutter, there can be added pressure around how messages are delivered—and whether they land the way they’re intended.
Join Derek Sutor and Robb Hurt, two veteran high school coaches, for an NSA Connects session about leading, teaching, and mentoring while stuttering. Their experiences show that stuttering can offer a powerful lens for teaching resilience and leadership.
This session will include open discussion and shared stories. Coaches at any level are welcome, along with people who stutter who have played sports and remember the influence of a coach, and parents of kids who stutter who are curious about coaching as a future path.
Stuttering On & Off the Field explores what leadership really looks like when authenticity and connection matter more than fluency.
