With Nashville, Tennessee, being her family's hometown, her son attended college out of state and faced his own specific challenges along the way. Family and friends can play a special role in a PWS’s support system during the college years. The TAC’s role is to exhibit strong leadership qualities and to serve as role models and mentors to their peers and younger members of Family Programs. < Back Previous Amir Hossein Rasoli Jokar Presenter Amir Hossein Rasoli Jokar is a PhD student at Michigan State University, working under the supervision of Dr. J. Scott Yaruss. His work focuses on stuttering variability and how it should be addressed in assessment and treatment. He has published multiple papers in leading journals, including the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology and the Journal of Fluency Disorders, exploring topics such as caregiver perspectives, bilingualism, and the impact of stuttering variability. Amir Hossein has also contributed to NIH-funded projects and has been recognized with the National Stuttering Association’s Graduate Research Award (2025-2027). Next

< Back Previous Matt Phillips Presenter Matt Phillips is a person who stutters, a speech therapist at the Sisskin Stuttering Center, and a PhD student at Michigan State University. His clinical practice with kids, teens, and adults who stutter uses an Avoidance Reduction Therapy for Stuttering (ARTS®) framework and he is passionate about helping people who stutter become more spontaneous and joyful communicators. His research interests center on improving the quality of life for people who stutter. Matt has been a part of the National Stuttering Association community for over 10 years. Next

< Back Previous Vivian Sisskin Presenter Vivian Sisskin is a Clinical Professor Emerita at the University of Maryland, an ASHA Fellow, and Board-Certified Specialist in Stuttering, Cluttering, and Fluency Disorders. She received ASHA’s Media Champion Award for her work promoting public awareness of stuttering and the Stuttering Association of the Young (SAY) Budd Mayer Advocacy Award. She was named Speech-Language Pathologist of the Year by the National Stuttering Association. Sisskin is the creator of Avoidance Reduction Therapy for Stuttering (ARTS®), which supports goals of acceptance and change. She directs the Sisskin Stuttering Center and presents her work both nationally and internationally. Next

< Back Previous Stacey Nierman Presenter Stacey Nierman is a mother to three boys, one of whom stutters. She is a teacher, passionate about helping people embrace who they are. Stacey attended the National Stuttering Association’s (NSA) Annual Conference in St. Louis in 2023, where she found herself embraced by parents who shared her wide range of emotions and felt hope for her son’s future. Since then, Stacey and her family have become very active in the NSA. She lives in the Kansas City metro area and co-founded the Kansas City Area Family Chapter. Her goal in the NSA is to connect, support, and educate in a judgment-free zone. Next
